Os acromionle

An os acromionale happens when the acromion does not fuse to the spine and body of the scapula. It occurs in 8% of the general population. It may be an incidental finding, but is also associated with subacromial impingement and disorders of the underlying rotator cuff.

Anatomy
The acromion forms from 4 growth centres, all of which ususally fuse by the age of 25.
The kind of os acromionale depends on where the non fusion exists.
