Lateral Scapula or " Y " view

  • Acromion

  • Coracoid

  • Scapula

Taken in the plane of the scapula

Where the three arms of  the " Y " meet is the centre of the Glenoid

It is essential to get two views of the shoulder. (see below)

Posterior dislocations are still being missed!!! (see look and learn shoulder)

If unsure on the lateral scapula view, get an axillary view. This is possible even in the presence of upper limb trauma, a modified axillary view is an option
